It would be great to have a list of available curveshapes for controls in the documentation sir Louis
set_control_shape( shape_name )
Sets the control to have a shape from the curve library.

Also here is the way to find out about curves.

from vtool.maya_lib import curve
info = curve.CurveDataInfo()
info.set_active_library('default_curves')
#to print out the names
info.get_curve_names()
#to create all the curves in the scene.
info.create_curves()
